Kate Dunn was born in 1993 in London. Having undertook a Foundation and Central Saint Martins, Kate moved to Florence, Italy to study academic drawing and painting at The Florence Academy of Art. This decision came from a desire to push her technique to the limit before embarking on the quest of an independent practice. While at the Academy she began teaching and was later awarded The Fourth Year Prize.
Kate has exhibited at galleries such as Ruth Borchard Prize, The Mall Galleries and the Royal Academy.
Having undergone a classical training, Kate looks at the contemporary languages of paint with reference to the historical. She is concerned with ideas of presence and space and their integration with the gestural materiality of paint.
