Cynthia Corbett Gallery returns to British Art Fair 2026 with Masters of Reinvention, a specially curated presentation bringing together nine artists whose work reimagines the languages and traditions of art history for the present day.
Spanning painting, photography, ceramics and textiles, the exhibition moves between Pop Art and Modernism, Surrealism and landscape, porcelain, weaving and trompe l'œil, revealing how familiar artistic traditions can become fertile ground for new ideas, new stories and distinctly contemporary perspectives.

Masters of Reinvention brings together nine artists who demonstrate that the most compelling contemporary art rarely rejects tradition. Instead, it reimagines it.
Across painting, photography, ceramics and textiles, each artist begins with an established artistic language, whether Pop Art, Modernism, trompe l'œil, porcelain, weaving, Surrealism or landscape painting, and transforms it into something unmistakably contemporary. Together, the exhibition explores how artists continue to find fresh ways of engaging with art history while responding to the questions and concerns of today.
The presentation also arrives at a particularly exciting moment for the gallery. Visitors will encounter Andy Burgess's latest architectural paintings, including a new interpretation of Richard Neutra's celebrated Kaufmann House, continuing his long-standing dialogue with twentieth-century Modernism; Deborah Azzopardi, as the gallery celebrates forty years of her pioneering Pop Art practice; Margo Selby, following her landmark Moon Landing installation at Saatchi Gallery; and Cristina Schek’s surreal photographic worlds, following her museum-scale installation Her Court at Wimbledon Museum and ahead of the unveiling of Fern Girl for the W4th Plinth on 19 September 2026, presented by Cynthia Valianti Corbett as part of the project curated by Abundance London.
The presentation continues with Alastair Gordon, debuting a new Scottish series after his residency and solo exhibition at Wimbledon Museum; Elaine Woo MacGregor, presenting new work following the publication of her first monograph, Daughters of the Silk Roads; and Jo Holdsworth, making her British Art Fair debut with atmospheric paintings shaped by art history, place and memory.
Alongside these presentations are Jemma Gowland's porcelain sculptures, which playfully challenge historical ideas of femininity through the language of decorative ceramics, and Carolyn Tripp's intimate porcelain vessels, which transform fragments of personal memory into layered visual narratives.
Masters of Reinvention celebrates artists who are reshaping inherited traditions through contemporary experience. Whether working with clay, pigment, woven thread, photography or illusionistic painting, each demonstrates that innovation often emerges not from abandoning history, but from looking at it with fresh eyes.
