The Walker Art Gallery presents a glittering display of lustre-decorated ceramics, tracing a tradition that began over a thousand years ago and continues to dazzle today.
Among the highlights are two exciting new acquisitions, including That Drop by Emilie Taylor, Winner of the 2021 Focus on the Female Young Masters Art Award. Inspired by electronic dance music and the women of the rave scene, Taylor’s portraits shine with gold lustre — celebrating people and places not traditionally held in the light.
Visitors can also see works by celebrated ceramicists such as Sir Edmund Elton, Alan Caiger Smith, and Sutton Taylor.
