This is a modern day portrait, named after the greek warrior goddess, Athena. It has been made using Cyanotype technique, enshrined in a hand applied gold leaf arch, Inspired by Byzantine religious paintings.
The artist utilises iconography, without being chained to direct references, the figure hovers in space, powerfully serene, and playfully adorned with materials from the artists studio. Some of the objects were moved mid exposure to create a painterly sense of movement. The artwork was exposed using UV light direct from the sun during this summer’s heat wave.
