"At Art Basel in 2009, I came across an art work by Lluis Barba which literally took my breath away. I was planning the curation for the first edition of the London-based Young Masters Art Prize and invited Lluis Barba to exhibit – he became a finalist and also exhibited his work as part of a special project at the Courtauld Institute of Art at Somerset House in London. Since 2009, the Gallery has exhibited the works of Lluis Barba in Basel, Bologna, Houston, Toronto, London, New York, The Hamptons, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami. His private and institutional collectors are world-renowned and his work has had an extraordinary impact on the next generation of young artists. Lluis Barba is a contemporary Master of inventive storytelling – weaving the art historical references and old master paintings seamlessly amongst art-world luminaries, celebrities, ordinary people, his friends, his collectors and of course iconic art works that we today value and readily recognise. His skill in marrying contemporary culture and society with the highest art values is unparalleled. I am honoured to know Lluis Barba as an artist and friend and will continue to champion his work with exhibitions throughout the world."
