Heirlooms of the Future: Ebony Russell’s Sculptural Ceramics in Homes & Antiques

We’re delighted to share a wonderful feature on artist Ebony Russell in the current issue of Homes & Antiques, beautifully written by Dominique Corlett.

Titled “Heirlooms of the Future” the article explores Ebony’s imaginative and emotionally resonant ceramic practice. Her work, often appearing like intricately piped confections, is deeply inspired by childhood memories, religious iconography, and vintage domestic kitsch. Yet beneath their candy-coloured surfaces, these sculptural vessels are powerful meditations on femininity, constraint, and creative resilience.

From growing up surrounded by symbolic heirlooms to becoming the first international recipient of the Brookfield Properties Craft Award, Ebony’s journey is both personal and profound. Her pieces challenge traditional forms, embracing fragility, imperfection, and excess as vehicles for storytelling and subversion.

We are proud to represent Ebony Russell and thrilled by the response her work continues to receive. As a gallery committed to cultural dialogue through contemporary art, we look forward to presenting more of Ebony’s extraordinary work to audiences across the art world in the months ahead.

We’re honoured to see Ebony’s work so thoughtfully profiled and encourage readers to explore this insightful and inspiring article in full here.
